Science Diet Dog Food

The Science Diet dog food which is now tested and approved by Hill’s in Topeka, Kansas has its roots from the meeting of one very ill but special guide dog, and an inquisitive and caring veterinary over 60 years ago. The legacy left by the DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) Mark Morris, Senior has lengthened the lives of pets today because he believed then that nutrition would help ill pets cope with disease better, and thereby live more overall productive lives. Dr. Morris’s unique stance in the late 1930s is and was considered ahead of its time because a lot was not even realized about the aspects of nutritional benefits for people in fighting any chronic disease, much less a dog! Dr. Morris’s special mixture of dog food for the ailing Buddy became the first known mass produced nutritional recipe to fight the effects of chronic kidney disease in dogs. After WWII the Science Diet dog food company expanded to include nutritional cat care foods too.

Today the creation and growth of clinical nutrition for pets can be directly linked to Dr. Mark Morris Senior and the Hill’s dedication to his firmly held belief of nutritional care for dogs through the Science Diet dog food. Hill’s continues research and support of all pet care foods through the employment of many veterinary doctors throughout the world, and the high ethical standards of testing for the dog and cat food products represents a caring attitude toward nutritional pet care. A state of the art research facility and care center for pets is a loving and safe environment too. There are numerous support systems in place at many universities in the United States and Canada which provide teaching assistance, seminars and awards. Science Diet dog food remembers and honors a dog from the past named Buddy every year by an award presented to a deserving senior at a participating veterinary college, and a small statuette representing Buddy. Buddy lives on too because Science Diet dog food supports in many ways guide dogs for the visually impaired. Buddy and Dr. Morris sure changed a lot for all pets now and in the future.
